Private hire operator licence
You need this licence if you operate a private hire business and accept private hire bookings for private hire vehicles.
Allow six weeks for a licence to be granted.
Licences last for three years and are specific to the person named on the licence. They cannot be transferred.
If you are applying for a licence to operate from a private hire booking office you will need to make sure you have planning permission to use the premises in this way. If the public have access to the office, you will also need £5m public liability insurance.
