About designated public place orders

We issue orders to deal with alcohol related anti-social behaviour in public places.

The order does not ban drinking alcohol in public places, but makes it an offence to carry on drinking alcohol when a police officer asks the person to stop.

Penalties include:

  • a fixed penalty notice
  • arrest and prosecution with a maximum fine of £500
  • bail conditions enforced to stop you from drinking in public
