Application No. 05/P/0104/F – Variation of condition 5 on application 00/P/1844/OT2 to allow 1650 houses (extra 150) at The Ashlands, Portishead (Agenda Item 5.2)

The Director of Development and Environment’s representative reported on the above application for planning permission. He drew Members’ attention to further information as referred to on the update sheet, a copy of which is filed on the minute book.

In considering the application, Members made reference to issues set out in a letter from the Highways Agency and expressed concern at the cumulative impact of increasing the number of houses at The Ashlands.

Recommended to the Planning and Regulatory Committee: that the application be refused for the following reason:

The cumulative impact of increased development at Portishead will have a detrimental effect on highway safety and congestion on the A369 and the M5.
