RECOMMENDATIONS

 

To inform Members of the initial Budget consultation timetable[J1]  as shown in the attached Appendix.

 

1.                Summary of Report

 

To inform Members of the Budget consultation timetable and process[J2] , in respect of the 2006/07 budgets and the Medium Term Financial Forecast to 2008/09.

 

2.                Policy

 

As stated in the Corporate Plan one of our values is that we “Deliver value for money” this means we as a Council are prudent with taxpayers money and continue to improve our cost effectiveness.  One of the ways that we achieve this is by consulting local people on major changes to policy, the budget and Council Tax.

 

3.                Details

 

The attached shows the timetable for the Medium Term Financial Forecast (MTFF) for 2006/07 – 2008/09 and the Revenue and Capital Budget Setting process for 2006/07[J3] .  It covers the period from May 2005 when the initial guidance for the MTFF is set to June 2006 where the results of the MTFF are included in the Corporate Plan, and September 2005 where the budget guidelines are issued to March 2006 when the budgets are published in the Members Budget Handbook for 2006/07.
