Essential information about this unit

 PROGRAMME OF STUDY LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Pupils should be given the opportunity to:

a) Identify people who have helped or guided them in their lives.
b) Listen to and discuss stories about the Life of Jesus: his birth, his disciples and friends, some of his parables, miracles.
c) Discuss some aspects of Jesus' teaching which guide people in their lives, eg love your neighbour or teaching on forgiveness.

 

WHERE THIS SAMPLE UNIT FITS IN

This unit is designed for Year Reception - Summer term. It connects with units 3 and 6 in dealing with aspects of people's values and commitments and with units 2 and 4 in dealing with religious practices and lifestyles.

TIME: This unit is planned for 8 sessions of 1 hour each.

  • Bibles - range of children's' bible stories

  • Simple piece of fabric/felt/paper/wool for finger puppets
  • Christian visitor to speak - eg vicar .
