The Winter Gardens

Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh toured North Somerset on a Royal visit in July 2007.

Well-wishers turned out in their thousands to greet the Royal Party in what was a memorable day for everyone.

The Queen and Duke attended a civic lunch at the Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare in the middle of their tour on Friday 20 July.

The Royal Party enjoyed local delicacies including Cheddar strawberry tart and sparkling Somerset cider.

Following their lunch The Duke travelled on to the nearby Helicopter Museum while The Queen was shown an exhibition of voluntary and community groups at the Winter Gardens.

Despite the poor weather, Her Majesty spoke to people outside the Winter Gardens many of whom had waited for hours in the rain in the hope of meeting her.
