The Helicopter Museum

Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh toured North Somerset on a Royal visit in July 2007.

Well-wishers turned out in their thousands to greet the Royal Party in what was a memorable day for everyone.

The Duke arrived at The Helicopter Museum ahead of Her Majesty The Queen towards the end of their tour on Friday 20 July.

The Duke unveiled a plaque to mark the opening of the museum's new Conservation and Engineering Hangar.

The recently completed hangar was built using money largely raised by volunteers and the Friends of the Museum with the building providing new facilities for the volunteers and to train future helicopter engineers.

Following The Queen's arrival, the Royal Party left the museum by helicopter at around 3.30pm ending their whistle-stop tour.
