Our reception team at Somerset House can offer help and advice on a wide range of planning and environment issues, answering any questions about our Development and Environment directorate.

You can obtain Diamond Travelcard bus passes, order compost bins, buy green waste bags, hand in planning applications and request copies of plans and view planning histories on the screen.

You can also log Streets and Open Spaces service requests relating to issues such as refuse and recycling collections, conditions of roads, broken streetlights and parks and public toilets.

The licensing reception at Somerset House can help you with licensing matters including taxi driver licences, licensing for skips, scaffolding and building materials, and alcohol and entertainment licences.

Opening times:

Main reception: 8.45am - 5pm Mon - Thurs, 8.45am - 4.30pm Fri. Licensing reception: 10am - 12pm, 2pm - 4pm Mon - Fri.

Access to our website for viewing and commenting on planning applications, leaflets on planning and environment issues and local attractions, blank forms for planning applications and building regulations (blank forms for licensing available on request from the licensing reception), reference documents including the Local Plan, our Waste Strategy, Transport Plan and Bristol International Airport master plan. Directions:

From North
Leave the M5 at J21 (signposted Weston-super-Mare). Follow signs for Weston-super-Mare, then the Town Centre. At the roundabout by Tesco take the second exit onto Station Road. At the next roundabout take the second exit, then take the first left onto Oxford Street.

From South
Follow the signs for Weston-super-Mare. Turn right onto Devonshire Road and continue onto Drove Road. At the roundabout by Tesco take the first exit onto Station Road. At the next roundabout take the second exit, then take the first left onto Oxford Street.
