Each year we invite the inspection of our
Statement of Accounts by members of the public.
This allows you to question our independent auditors on any
issue regarding our financial standing.
The following text is the 2008 official invitation including
dates and times:

AUDIT OF ACCOUNTS OF THE COUNCIL FOR THE DISTRICT OF NORTH
SOMERSET
YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2008
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council's Auditors, the Audit
Commission, whose address is Westward House, Lime Kiln Close, Stoke
Gifford, Bristol BS34 8SR, have appointed Monday 18th August 2008
as the date on or after which local government electors for the
District of North Somerset may exercise their rights under sections
15 & 16 of the Audit Commission Act 1998 to question the
auditors about the accounts of the Council for the year ended 31st
March 2008 and to make objections as to any matter in respect of
sections 17 & 18 of the Act (namely, an unlawful item of
accounts, failure to bring a sum into account, or a loss or
deficiency caused by wilful misconduct), or an item which would
require a report in the public interest under section 8 of the Act.
The auditors may be questioned at the Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare
between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on Monday 18th August 2008 and at
Westward House, Lime Kiln Close, Stoke Gifford, Bristol BS34 8SR,
(telephone 0844 798 8736), on any other dates by appointment prior
to the completion of the audit. Written notice of any objection and
the grounds on which it is to be made must be given to the auditors
and a copy thereof sent to the Council.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the accounts of the Council and of
their officers duly made up and balanced, together with all books,
deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating thereto,
will be available for public inspection at the Town Hall,
Weston-super-Mare, between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. and
2.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. for 20 clear working days commencing
Monday 21st July 2008.
