The
North Somerset Local Area Agreement
(LAA) is a three-year agreement between the Government,
ourselves and our partners.
The LAA is aimed at improving the quality of
life for local people through better joint working practices and
by strengthening local services. It is a key delivery mechanism
of the Sustainable Community Strategy.
We have agreed and submitted a new LAA which
runs from June 2008 until March 2011.
The new LAA contains 69 targets aimed at
tackling local priorities and is based around four key policy
areas:
-
Children and young people
-
Economic development and
environment
-
Health and wellbeing
-
Safer and stronger
communities
The targets were agreed by the
Government Office for the South
West, representing Government, and the
North Somerset
Partnership (NSP), acting on behalf of the local area.
The NSP is made up of key agencies from within
the local private, voluntary and statutory sectors.
At the end of the three years if certain
challenging targets are met the area will be eligible to receive
additional reward grant funding.
The new LAA could attract an additional £1.1m
into the area.
