A police enquiry service is now available at the Town
Hall in Weston-super-Mare, alongside council services provided by
North Somerset Council.
The Town Hall is now a central hub which makes it
easier for members of the public to access both council and police
services.
Chief Superintendent Julian Moss said: "It makes sense to provide
one central location where people can access public services,
whether they are reporting a crime, seeking police advice or
wanting to talk to someone about housing benefits or council
tax.
"We are looking forward to working more closely with our colleagues
in the Town Hall to provide a better and more joined up
service."
Councillor Nigel Ashton, Leader of North Somerset Council, said:
"It has always been our intention to create a hub for public
services at the Town Hall so I'm pleased that we have been able to
make this happen so quickly, within three months of the new
facility opening.
"Accommodating the police extends the range of services available
under one roof for local people, and also makes it easier for us to
work together forging an even closer working relationship to build
safer and stronger communities in North Somerset. It also makes
financial and operational sense for both organisations."
The police station in Weston-super-Mare will continue to house the
local neighbourhood, patrol and CID teams. However police enquiries
will be dealt with at the Town Hall.
