Fishing rod licences for anglers in North
Somerset are issued by the government.
We no longer grant angling permits and they are now issued by the
Environment
Agency.
Anyone over 12 years of age who fishes for salmon, trout,
freshwater fish or eels must have one as they are a statutory
requirement.
They entitle the holder to use a rod and line to fish and can be
purchased online from the
Environment Agency
or via the Post Office.
Rod licences are different from fishing permits, often referred to
as tickets or day tickets, and give permission to fish a particular
stretch of water.
These are issued by fishery owners and angling clubs with further
information on some of the fisheries available from the
Bristol Water
website.
