This act marked the end of the old licensing
system by merging the six former licensing regimes into one new
system.
Under the
Licensing
Act 2003 only a single Premises Licence is needed to supply
alcohol, entertainment, late night refreshments or any
combination of these activities.
However, those wishing to sell alcohol will also require a
Personal Licence to do so.
Under the new laws we are now responsible for licensing the sale
and supply of alcohol within North Somerset.
We are also required to maintain and publish a series of
applications registers showing who has been granted
premises licences, personal licences and
Temporary Even Notices (TENS).
The implications of the Licensing 2003 Act are very wide-ranging
with full details available on the
Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) website.
