Alcohol and entertainment

We are responsible for licensing the supply and sale of alcohol, public entertainment and late night refreshment in North Somerset.

As required by the Licensing Act 2003 we have adopted a licensing policy which sets out how we intend to administer and enforce the legislation. You can view our Statement of Licensing Policy or visit our office in Warne Road to see a paper copy.

We are currently consulting on the Draft Statement of Licensing Policy for 2011-14. If you have any comments regarding the draft policy, please could you forward them in writing or by email to the Licensing Team by no later than the 8 October 2010.

Legislation requires us to ensure the following licensing objectives are met:

  • public safety
  • the prevention of crime and disorder
  • the prevention of public nuisance
  • the protection of children from harm.

The pages in this section detail the different types of licences and event notification procedures. You can visit our fees and charges page for information about how much these cost.

You can also visit our service standards page and download our Environmental and Consumer Services service standards.
