New Deal is a key part of the government's
strategy to get people back to work.
It gives people on benefits the help and support they need to
look for work, including training and job preparation.
The programme is part of the Welfare to Work strategy and
tailored to meet the needs of the following groups:
- Young people - 18 to 24 year olds
- 25 year olds and above
- Lone parents
- Disabled people
- 50 year olds and above
- Partners of the unemployed
- The self-employed
- Musicians
All these are delivered locally through the government's
employment services.
The programme also offers specific support for employers and
training partners looking to take part in the initiative.
