As a service we are refreshing our approach, challenging
old assumptions and making a difference to the lives of the next
generation of children in our community.
Whilst most councils are reviewing their social services in the
light of Government guidance, here at North Somerset, we’ve gone a
step further, integrating all our services – including
fostering.
We’ve also listened to what children really want and simplified
our management structure so our Social Workers can act quickly and
autonomously.
As an Advanced Social Work Practitioner in one of our new
Practice Groups, you would be part of a team making a real
difference to the lives of vulnerable children. With a managed
caseload you would support the practice group by sharing your
skills and experience and enabling other staff to develop
theirs.
Joining our Resource Service as a practitioner you would be
caring for children whose permanence plan is to remain in care and
supporting them when they leave our care. You would be part of
three specialist teams that deal with recruitment and support of
foster carers and adopters, facilitating the adoption of children
and providing respite care for disabled children.
We are looking outwards and are becoming a service which is
capable of working more closely with the community and the new
locality teams we have created.
We are:
- a service that can offer greater consistency and continuity of
response to referrals, assessments and service provision.
- a service that actively listens to children and enables
the changes they need.
- a service that isn’t afraid to go beyond government
recommendations to achieve a radical new, flatter, more effective
working structure.
