Declarations of interest

Councillors are required to make a declaration of interest about any interests they have which could potentially interfere with council business.

The details of this code of conduct are explained within our Constitution.

The document outlines how they must declare any interests, gifts or hospitality which they have or may have received.

This can include anything which could influence any decisions they may make as councillors and should include the following information:

  • Contracts between themselves and their firm and the council
  • Personal employment or business details
  • Local land interests
  • Directorships

A full description of such interests are set out in the Constitution.

The details of any declarations by individual councillors can be found within the appropriate minutes of council meetings where they are declared as a matter of common practice.
