The panel deals with:
- Crime and disorder and community safety (The Crime and Disorder
Act 1998 places a duty on local councils to do all they
reasonably can to prevent crime and disorder within their
area)
- Parks and open spaces
- Sports and leisure facilities
- Libraries
- Local Strategic Partnership
- Community Legal Service
The panel will:
- review and scrutinise decisions made or actions taken in
connection with any of the council's functions
- produce reports and recommendations to the full Council,
Executive and any Joint or Area Committee in connection with the
council's policy
- consider any matter affecting the area or its inhabitants
- exercise the right to call-in, for reconsideration, decisions
made but not yet implemented by the Executive
