Community Services Policy and Scrutiny Panel

The panel deals with:

  • Crime and disorder and community safety (The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 places a duty on local councils to do all they reasonably can to prevent crime and disorder within their area)
  • Parks and open spaces
  • Sports and leisure facilities
  • Libraries
  • Local Strategic Partnership
  • Community Legal Service

The panel will:

  • review and scrutinise decisions made or actions taken in connection with any of the council's functions
  • produce reports and recommendations to the full Council, Executive and any Joint or Area Committee in connection with the council's policy
  • consider any matter affecting the area or its inhabitants
  • exercise the right to call-in, for reconsideration, decisions made but not yet implemented by the Executive
