Recommendations and decisions about how the council
works are taken by a number of different
committees.
All of our 61
councillors meet
monthly
at
Full Council to make key
decisions about policy and other issues.
Many day-to-day decisions are taken by
The Executive, which is
made up of eight councillors, or Executive Members,
who have specific responsibilities for particular services.
Our Overview and Scrutiny Panels take a closer look
at our policies, decisions and performance and are made
up of councillors who ensure the council is accountable.
Our Planning and Regulatory
Committee has overall responsibility for planning decisions,
Listed Building consent and the regulatory functions of the
council.
Our Area Committees mainly make decisions on planning
applications within specific areas of North Somerset. They also
hear the views of parish councils and the public.
Licensing matters are considered by
our Licensing Committee
while the conduct of individual councillors is overseen
by our
Standards Committee.
