We provide road safety advice and guidelines for
cyclists in North Somerset.
We liaise with local cycling groups and support the
CTC, which is the UK's
national cyclists' organisation that aims to make cycling
enjoyable, safe and welcoming for all.
Cycle training
Many primary schools are able to deliver Bikeability training using
funding obtained from the Department for Transport. Other schools
deliver on-road traditional cycle training to children in years 5
and 6, using volunteers. Ask at your school about
available training.
We can also offer cycle training to adults. Due to the funding
source, this is primarily aimed at those considering commuting to
work who live or work on the Weston-super-Mare (including
Nailsea) - Bristol, and Portishead - Bristol corridors.

Think twICE!
It is an astonishing fact, but 1 in 4 non-collision incidents
for cyclists occurs as a result on slips on ice. The consequences
range from being a bit embarrassed up to extremely serious
injury. Life Cycle UK and NHS Bristol are running
a
Think twICE campaign where you can find
out more - there is also guidance for employers to help
their cycling staff.
