Who is eligible to use the community transport
service?
This depends on the operator but generally it is for people who
are unable to use conventional public transport. Membership or
registration is required for most schemes.
Can I use my Diamond Travelcard bus pass on community
transport?
Bus pass holders are entitled to a 50% discount on some local
journeys. Currently only dial-a-ride passengers with Weston and
District Community Transport can use their passes. Acceptance by
other community transport schemes is under review.
How much will it cost?
Fares are generally set based on the length of the journey and
are agreed with the operator in advance. A local dial-a-ride or
shopping trip is generally comparable with a local bus fare.
What services are available?
There are many groups operating in North Somerset, from small
car schemes serving patients of a local GP surgery through to large
groups with a fleet of dedicated community buses. Refer to our
Community Transport Directory (pdf,
Dec11, 591KB) for your local scheme.
Can I travel with my wheelchair or walking
aid?
This depends on the operator but most dial-a-ride and shopping
trips are fully accessible and designed to cater for wheelchairs
and other equipment.
