Community transport

Community transport is a vital service for a lot of people with limited mobility in North Somerset.

Most schemes offer a door-to-door service and a full range of services are available:

  • Dial-a-ride
  • Shopping trips
  • Medical appointments
  • Day trips and outings
  • Group hire

Community transport groups providing dial-a-ride journeys typically operate fully accessible mini-buses, suitable for most modern wheelchairs. Diamond Travelcard bus pass holders are eligible for a discount on some dial-a-ride journeys.

More details are available on the community transport operators page.

Each scheme operates on a membership basis and you are usually eligible to join if you are elderly, disabled or find it difficult to use public transport.

Getting About Greater Bristol is also a useful website. It has a wide range of travel information for disabled and less mobile people to help you plan your journey.

We commission community transport and dial-a-ride services across the district and we help voluntary organisations and charities with funding to set up and continue their programmes. Many of the local schemes are run by volunteers.
