Public Transport Twitter Trial

In July 2011, we introduced a new initiative to trial the use of social-networking site Twitter to keep bus passengers better informed.

We are always looking for ways to improve our communication with local bus passengers to keep them up-to-date of any disruptions or changes to services.

We used our Twitter feed @nscbuses to provide live network updates for the WebberBus SuperLink services in Weston-super-Mare.

This trial has now ended and WebberBus will continue the service. Passengers can follow the Twitter feed called @webberbus.

Alternatively, if you use First Bus services you can follow their Twitter feed called @firstbsa.

For more information about the Twitter trial, contact the Pubilc Transport team.

What is Twitter?

Twitter is an information network that lets you sign up to get updates about subjects that interest you.

People, organisations and even celebrities 'Tweet' short messages which you can follow on your computer, smart phone or by text.

You can find out the latest council news by following our Twitter feed, called @NorthSomersetC.

To follow a Twitter feed on your computer or smart phone, you will need an account, or you can use the quick follow feature, which lets you get updates by text (there may be a cost for this service).

If you would like to use Twitter but are not sure where to start you can visit the Twitter Support Centre.

There you can get all the information about the service, how you can get an account, how to get updates and how to get text updates.
