We fund and support various bus routes across
North Somerset.
All bus services are run by commercial companies and some may not
be profitable to operate at certain times of the day - often in the
evenings or over weekends.
In order to improve the availability of these services,
particularly for those who have no acess to a vehicle, we directly
fund the operation of additional services.
In fact, many of the evening and weekend services in
Weston-super-Mare are supported in this way.
Funding comes from grants provided by the
Department for Transport (DfT) such as the Rural Bus Grant or
Urban Bus Challenge.
We also build and maintain
bus lanes and
shelters and install raised kerbs to make getting on and off
buses easier. |
