Bus lanes and shelters

Bus lanes improve the reliability of bus services and cut journey times.

Road signs alongside these lanes explain which vehicles can use them and at what times. Parking or driving in a bus lane when it is in use is an offence.

We work with parish and town councils to maintain bus shelters in North Somerset.

We have been improving the bus stops in North Somerset as part of the Local Transport Plan and Greater Bristol Bus Network. We have installed new shelters at bus stops and built raised kerbs for easier access.

Real time information (RTI) displays are electronic messages at bus stops that tell you when your bus will arrive. We have now installed RTI displays at approximately thirty locations on the Weston-super-Mare to Bristol bus corridor. More displays are planned for this route and also for the Portishead to Bristol bus corridor. These have been funded by the Greater Bristol Bus Network and the Local Sustainable Transport Fund.
