We are committed to ensuring pupils are able to
travel to school in safe and healthy ways which minimise the impact
on our environment.
For the first time the Government has asked all councils to
produce a strategy to support sustainable school travel wherever
practical.
It has asked for these strategies to be revised annually and to
specifically include the following:
- Plans to improve access to schools where problems or
difficulties are identified
- Pupils' current and future school travel needs
- Ways in which pupils access schools at present
As a result, we have produced our own
Sustainable School Travel Strategy.
It explains how we will identify travel needs, what sources of
information will we use and what we have done to improve school
journeys in our area.
It also explains our future plans for improving and expanding
the strategy, what we hope to achieve through it and who we will
ask for views and opinions.
