Travel plan resources

We offer help and advice with local public transport information, promoting cycling and walking, car-sharing, travel surveys and auditing your site. We also run an award and grant scheme.

2carshare.com is a free-to-use council-promoted car-sharing scheme. It is already well established across the West of England area with well over 7000 users. Free publicity materials are available, including a 2carshare.com leaflet. A private car-sharing website for your company or site, within 2carshare may be set up at a cost.

Travel Better Live Better is a free booklet, published annually by the four West of England councils, outlining the main sustainable travel options people have, their benefits and how to get started. It includes a diary of sustainable travel and healthy living events and an order form for maps and leaflets. To order additional paper copies contact our Sustainable Travel team.

We can also supply free maps and leaflets such as the North Somerset Cycle Map and North Somerset Travel Map detailing all public transport within the district. All our cycling resources are now also available on Cyclewest. Please also refer to our own cycling, bus travel and rail travel sections.

The West of England Travel Plan Awards recognise your organisation's efforts in developing its travel plan. The award process is designed to help you every step of the way.

With a travel plan that has achieved measured results you could join the previous Gold Award winners including IKEA, North Bristol NHS Trust, Orange, Sovereign Shopping Centre, and University of Bristol.

You may also qualify for a Travel Plan Grant of up to £5000.

We are currently developing a Special Planning Document with guidance for developers on our requirements for travel plans for new or expanding developments. We expect a draft consultation document to be available Autumn 2008. If you would like to be involved please contact our Sustainable Travel team.
