Planned road closure FAQs

How will I get to my property when the road is closed?

When we close the road we will still allow vehicles access, to properties and premises, but it will not be possible to drive through the entire closed section.

Through traffic will need to follow the signed diversion route.

Also, depending on where the works are being carried out, it may not be possible for vehicles to gain access from one end, and it will be necessary to follow the diversion route to get onto the road from the opposite end.

You will also not be able to park on the closed section of road.

Can I visit the shops in the closed section of road?

We will try to make sure all premises can be reached during the work, but the nature of the improvements often means it can be very dangerous so we may have to restrict access at times.

Although you will not be able to park on the road during the work, if there is parking nearby and you will be able to walk to the shops.

What work is being done?

There are many different reasons why we have to close a road, including for resurfacing. We often publish details on this website or in the local press.

When is the work being carried out?

There will be signs up giving details of when the road will be closed. We also try to publish details on this website and in the local press.

What disruption can be expected?

When carrying out work we try to cause as little disruption as possible. But, it is inevitable there will be some delays and inconvenience. We are sorry for any problems the work may cause, but hope you find the improvements worth any short term difficulties.
