We are part of the Safety Camera Partnership in
Avon and Somerset.
The partnership was launched in April 2002 with the aim of
reducing road accidents and causalities through the enforcement of
speed limits and red traffic lights using camera technology, and
driver education programmes.
The partnership consists of local highways and health authorities,
police, the
Crown Prosecution Service (CPS),
the Highways Agency and
Her Majesty's Court
Service for Avon and Somerset.
The partnership must adhere to guidelines set by the
Department for Transport.
Camera sites must have a collision history of speed-related
accidents or a general speeding problem. All fixed sites must also
be clearly signed and visible.
Currently there are eight fixed, 22 mobile camera and one red light
camera site across North Somerset.
