Could I have an advisory disabled parking bay outside my house?

If you are eligible, you could apply to have an advisory disabled parking bay marked outside your house. If the location of the bay would affect other residents, you must have their support for your application to be successful. The markings are only advisory and rely on the goodwill of other road users not to park in the bay. Other disabled drivers are also entitled to use the bay and you should not consider the bay being there purely for your use. For more information contact our highways and transport team.

Who is eligible for an advisory disabled parking bay?

You can apply for a disabled parking bay outside your home if:

  • you are registered disabled and hold a disabled parking permit (blue badge)
  • you are the regular driver of a vehicle
  • there is a considerable regular demand for on-street parking
  • you don’t have reasonable off-street parking facilities
