We supply parking permits to disabled people across
North Somerset.
Otherwise known as the blue badge scheme, the permits come in
the form of a blue badge and include an explanation as to where
holders can and cannot park.
To apply for a blue badge permit download, fill in and send off our
disabled parking
permit application (pdf, Apr 09, 127k).
You may be entitled to a disabled parking permit if one of
these statements applies to you:
- I receive the higher rate of the mobility component of the
Disability Living Allowance
- I receive a War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement
- I use a motor vehicle for disabled people supplied by a
government health department
- I am registered as blind
- I have a severe disability in both upper limbs, regularly drive
a motor vehicle but cannot turn the steering wheel by hand even if
the wheel is fitted with a turning knob
- I have a permanent and substantial disability which leaves
me unable to walk or I have difficulty in walking
You must remember that having a disabled parking permit is not a
licence to park your vehicle anywhere, and that some restrictions
still apply. As such, we cannot accept responsibility for
fines incurred by permit holders who park their vehicles
illegally.
You must not lend you disabled parking permit to friends or
family members or allow them to take advantage of the scheme
otherwise you will risk having your permit withdrawn and
you could face prosecution. It is a serious
criminal offence for able-bodied people to use a disabled parking
permit and any offence can lead to a fine of up to £1000.
