Now in its fifth year, Jam Busting June is the month-long
commuter challenge event which promotes the use of sustainable
transport on the journey to work.
The Jam Busting June competition is run by Bath and North East
Somerset, Bristol City, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire
councils.
Monday 1 June will mark the launch of this year's campaign and a
launch event will will take place between 11am and 3pm in Kingston
Parade, Central Bath. There will be two bicycle-powered
smoothie-making units so members of the public can make a smoothie
by powering a blender connected to a stationary bike! So come
and join in the smoothie making races with friends or colleagues to
show your support for Jam Busting June.
Walking, cycling, using public transport, car sharing, and home
working are all encouraged through Jam Busting June.
Participants can complete an online diary to record how they get
to and from work every day and at the end of the month, there will
be a prize draw for people who have participated. Some of the
great prizes been offered include £200 John Lewis vouchers, Sony
Erricson mobile phones and £100 Amazon voucher all kindly donated
by local businesses.
