We issue licences allowing private hire operators
to run their businesses within North Somerset.
They are required to enable a business to accept or
invite bookings for private hire vehicles as private hire drivers
cannot pick anyone up unless it has first been booked through an
operator.
Before these licences are granted applicants must satisfy us that
their business address is suitable and will not disturb their local
area.
A certificate of public liability insurance is required where the
public has access to the premises and you will need to produce a
certificate and pay the licence fee before a licence is
issued.
If you wish to apply for your own licence to operate from a booking
office you will need to obtain planning permission from us to allow
you to use the premises as such.

Operators may pass bookings to other licensed private hire
operators only if we have licenced the operator and if you are a
vehicle proprietor you may work for any existing operator.
