We make sure hedges are maintained by stepping in
when landowners fail to keep them in order.
It is the responsibility of the landowner to keep hedges on
their land trimmed so they do not overhang the road or interfere
with road users' visibility.
We ask landowners to sort the problem out within 14 days but
after that period will carry out the work ourselves and send the
landowner the bill.
Our powers are limited to dealing with roadside hedges and we do
not cut hedges not on the roadside.
However, we will look into all incidents reported to us.
You can help by keeping your hedges trimmed so they do not
overhang the road or interfere with visibility.
For further information download our
hedge maintenance standards or
rural hedge maintenance service standards.
To report an overgrown hedge contact our
Streets and Open Spaces service on (01934) 888 802.
