We are responsible for the maintenance of drainage
gullies and ditches alongside the highways of North
Somerset.
We regularly empty and clean gullies and their connections to the
drainage system and aim to carry out reported essential repairs
within 24 hours.
We do not empty gullies on private land so if you are having
problems with these contact our Environmental and Consumer Services
team.
We maintain ditches across North Somerset and investigate problems
which may affect road users.
Although most ditches in the district are on private land and the
responsibility of the landowner, we will investigate concerns about
these.
Our services do not cover the maintenance of rhynes or
rivers.
The larger open ditches are under the control of the
West Mendip Internal Drainage
Board and North Somerset Internal Drainage Board while rivers
are the responsibility of the
Environment
Agency.
