We keep the highways of North Somerset safe for
road users during the winter months.
We do this by salting 322km, or 29%, of the
district's most heavily used roads to prevent them from icing over
between October and March each year.
When frost and cold weather is forecast we publicise which roads
will be treated.
As part of this programme we will clear all major routes, local
'A' roads and pavements of snow should they become blocked.
This also applies to clearing farm roads so milk can be collected
and animal feed can be delivered.
