Our Strategy for Older People outlines our plans to work
with older people on their issues and concerns across North
Somerset.
From July to September 2007 we ran a consultation exercise to
help us develop a strategy for our policies and services for older
people. When the consultation period ended over 100 responses
had been received.
The outcome of the consultation was added to other consultation
and feedback we'd already gathered from older people and those who
care for or work with older people. All of this information was
taken into account in producing the strategy.
The council's Executive agreed the final
version of the strategy at its meeting on 11 March 2008. You can
view the strategy in the
Executive report and the strategy
action plan online.
If you have a visual impairment or disability and use a screen
reader we have text versions of the
Executive report and
action plan.
If you would like these documents in a different format or
different language, please contact
Abby Elias on 01934 426 038.
To make sure that the strategy and action plan is put in to
practice, an older people champions' group is being set
up. This group will include councillors and older people who
are taking part in the
Partnership with Older
People Project (POPP).
The group will receive regular reports from council officers
showing how the action plan is progressing. There will be a
yearly progress report to the Executive, and regular articles
in
North Somerset Life. A new strategy will be developed at
the end of three years.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the
consultation and the development of the strategy.
