Date: 27 Mar 2008

Following on from the successful 'POPP in Your Library Week' last October, people are invited to 'POPP in Your Library Again'.

Last year's event took place in the larger libraries in North Somerset, and in response to requests this year POPP will be visiting some of the smaller libraries.

North Somerset (Partnerships for Older People) POPP is trialling new ways of working, to support older people maintain independence through preventing deterioration in health and quality of life. For the purposes of POPP an older person is defined as being 50+.

North Somerset POPP involves five projects which are working to support older people, including older carers and older people of the local black and minority ethnic population, pavement repair to avoid falls, recruiting volunteers to help support older people and develop local services.

To publicise the POPP project and highlight the great resources available in your local library, POPP will be visiting a number of the smaller libraries throughout North Somerset. Project workers will be available in the libraries to talk about the project on the following days:

  • 7 April Weston and Yatton Library

  • 10 April Worle Library
  • 11 April Pill and Banwell Library

If you are 50+ and would like to help us develop services for older people, come and talk to us about what would make life better as an older person in North Somerset.

If you know someone who is 50+ and isolated or struggling to maintain a quality of life, please come and talk to us and find about the services available through POPP and how we are working to develop services to help.
