The ContactPoint system will contain basic
information about all children up to 18 years resident in
England.
These details will be made available to authorised staff
who work with children and young people via an online
directory.
This ContactPoint database will contain the following
information about children and young people:
- Name, address, gender and date of birth
- An identifying number based on the existing Child Reference
Number or National Insurance number
- The following contact information in relation to the
child:
- Educational setting - For example, school
- Other practitioners providing other services
- Parent or carer
- Primary medical practitioner - For example,
GP
Consent from the child, young person or their parent or carer
will be required before certain specialist service information,
such as drug or substance abuse and sexual or mental health, can be
recorded.
There will also be the faciity to indicate if a Practitioner is
a Lead Professional for a child and/or if they have completed an
assessment under the Common Assessment Framework.
However, the following information will not be
recorded:
- Any assessment information
- Comments about the child or parent/carer
- Dietary, weight or height information
- Examination results
