There are ten Children's Centres being developed
across North Somerset.
These
Children's Centres are a key aspect of the North Somerset
Council Plan for Children & Young People's Services
(CYPS) and the delivery of the
'Every Child Matters -
Change for Children' agenda.
The main purpose of Children's Centres is to improve the
outcomes for all young children with a particular focus on the most
disadvantaged children.
They will offer a number of
core services that will bring together education and childcare,
family support and health services in an accessible way for young
children and their families.
Children's Centres are being developed around existing and
reshaped services and early years' provision in local areas,
bringing many
benefits for local people. Parents and carers were involved in
the Children's Centre consultation process and are also encouraged
to be involved with the development and running of the
centres.
Each Children's Centre will have its own
Partnership
Group to help guide the development of the local
centre.
We expect Children's Centres to work closely with
Extended Schools
Initiatives to benefit children up to the age of
19.
