If you are interested in inter-country adoption then you
will have to undergo an assessment before any decision is taken on
you adopting a child.
If you would like to begin the process for an inter-country
adoption please fill in our
Adoption interest form or contact our
Adoption Team
An assessment will then be carried out by an independent
assessor experienced in inter-country adoption.
They will visit you initially to discuss your enquiry
giving you an opportunity to discuss your application as well as
hearing more about the country from which you wish to adopt.
The assessor will then write a report which will be presented to
our
Adoption Panel who will consider you application.
For further information about the panel and its processes please
download our
Adoption Panel Guide.
A fee is charged for the initial visit and subsequent assessment
report and applies to all applicants unless they are in receipt of
social services benefits.
If your application is successful we will then offer you
support and training through a preparation course which you would
be expected to attend.
For further information or a breakdown of the fees please
contact our Adoption Team.
Alternatively, visit the
Inter-country Adoption
Centre website.
