Who can adopt

We are looking for a wide variety of adopters to provide families for children who need them.

This is because the range of needs presented by children who are placed for adoption is enormous.

You must be over the age of 21 years of age if you plan to adopt, but there are no other strict lifestyle criteria to apply.

You can be married, living with a partner or single, employed or unemployed. Above all, you will need to understand a child's needs, have time and energy, and you must be able to commit to helping them throughout their life.

We would welcome interest from people living outside of North Somerset, within approximately one hour's travelling time. Currently, we are only recruiting adopters from outside of North Somerset due to difficulties in placing children in close geographical proximity to their birth families.

Adoptive homes are needed for children of all ages but very few babies need adopting.

We especially need families for children over two year's of age, sibling groups who need to be placed together, children from minority ethnic groups and those with disabilities.

If you are interested in adopting please fill in our Adoption interest form or contact our Adoption Team
