The North Somerset Teenage Pregnancy Partnership
works to reduce the number of teenage pregnancies in the
area.
The partnership involves the council,
NHS,
Connexions and other
voluntary organisations.
We aim to reduce the number of teenage pregnancies by 50% by
2010 and to get more teenage parents into education, training or
employment.
Our work also includes the following:
- A review of school sex and relationship education and practice
and guidance for the development of these programmes
- Multi-agency training including delivery of the Delay Program
which encourages young people to delay having sexual relationships
until they are ready and know how to successfully use
contraception
- Sessions with parents on how to talk about relationships and
sex with their children
- Helping young people and foster carers to revise their sex and
relationship policy
- A publicity campaign to raise awareness about the No Worries
Teenage Health scheme
- Support to teenage parents
We would like to hear from you if you are involved or planning
any work to help reduce teenage conception and welcome information
on current services for young people and parents and ideas for
future developments.
There are a number of services available across the district
providing advice and support to young people and their details can
be view by downloading our
Sexual health matters leaflet. |
