Occupational therapy

Occupational Therapy promotes and restores independence, health and well-being to people of all ages.

Occupational Therapists work with individuals to build on their ability to manage everyday tasks.

North Somerset residents with a permanent disability who experience practical difficulties can apply for support with personal care and practical tasks.

We arrange help and care for the most vulnerable and frail people in our community as a priority and have a duty to provide a cost-effective service to meet your needs.

We provide the following services:

  • Assessment of you and your carer's difficulties carrying out everyday living tasks
  • Advice on alternative methods of managing these activities
  • Advise carers on manual handling techniques
  • The loan of essential equipment to assist with day-to-day living
  • Help with minor adaptations to your home
  • Recommendations for major adaptations where appropriate

There is no charge for our initial assessment and advice is available for equipment and adaptations funding.

A financial assessment is required for some services and you may have to contribute to all or part of the cost.

If you feel you need Occupational Therapy Services in order to live independently at home please contact  Care Connect.

If you prefer, you can ask someone else, such as a friend, relative or GP to make contact for you.

Further information about our Occupational Therapy Services are explained in our downloadable Occupational Therapy and Equipment and Services leaflets.
