Discarded needles, syringes and other drug-related
items pose a danger to the people of North
Somerset.
We advise you not to pick up these items unless they pose an
immediate danger to you or other members of the public.
There are a number of hazards associated with handling these
items and you should contact us to remove and dispose of them
safely.
We will collect any reported needles and syringes within two
hours.
To report an incident contact our
Streets and Open Spaces service.
Any needles found on school or nursery sites during working hours
should be reported immediately to on site staff who are trained to
deal with these situations.
The Advice and Counselling on
Alcohol and Drugs (ACAD) charity in Oxford Street,
Weston-super-Mare, runs a free and confidential needle exchange for
drug users during the week between 2pm and 5pm Monday to
Friday.
