Professionals involved in domestic abuse

The Domestic Abuse Support Champions' Scheme is aimed at workers who wish to support people reporting domestic abuse. The Support Champion receives resources, training and updates on domestic abuse issues.

For information on becoming a Support Champion contact Community Safety and Drug Action Team.

Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARACs) are meetings to share information, risk manage and action plan high risk domestic abuse cases.

MARACs are held on the first Wednesday of every month and there is provision to hold an emergency MARAC if the situation warrants it. During the meeting cases are discussed by up to 20 agencies all of which may have vital information or support which they can provide to the case.

If you have a GCSx or CJSM secure email account and you want a referral form or you need to discuss making a referral, contact the MARAC co-ordinator.  In an emergency or if  you do not have a secure email account, contact the police on 0845 4567000 and ask for North Somerset  Domestic Abuse Investigation Team (DAIT).

Independent Domestic Abuse Advisors (IDVAs) offer intensive support to North Somerset's highest risk domestic abuse cases.  If you are working with a person who you think is high risk and would benefit from this support and you have a secure email account,  contact northsomersetidva@ch1.org.uk.cjsm.net  If you do not have a secure email ring 07714135729.
