Aids and adaptations

We provide an integrated equipment and minor adaptations service for people with disabilities across North Somerset.

These items improve quality of life by helping with everyday activities such as moving around and bathing.

The equipment can include shower chairs, hoists, pressure relieving mattresses. Minor adaptations such as grab rails, stair rails and ramps can be installed in your home.

We provide this equipment with the help of North Somerset Primary Care Trust and Medequip Assistive Technology Ltd.

Equipment services are provided as a result of an assessment of your needs. You need to contact the following people or services so your needs can be assessed:

  • For wheelchair and walking aids contact your doctor
  • For nursing and pressure care contact the district nurse at your doctor's surgery
  • For general equipment and adaptations to your home contact our Adult Social Services and Housing department

Further information and advice is available from Care Connect More information about equipment services is also available in our downloadable equipment services leaflet

There are also a number of local organisations which offer advice, information and assessment on indoor and outdoor mobility and enjoying your hobbies and leisure.
