We aim to enable people with sight loss to live full and
independent lives within the community.
We have an arrangement
with Vision North
Somerset (previously known as Woodspring Association for
the Blind) to provide a range of specialist services at its
resource centre in Weston-super-Mare.
The centre has a wide range of aids and equipment for demonstration
- from talking watches to large button telephones - and its staff
can provide information on all topics relating to sight loss.
Its Rehabilitation Officer can help you improve or learn new skills
to enable you to be as independent as possible including guidance
on mobility training, daily living skills and Braille and Moon
communication.
The centre is at 3 Neva Road and is open from Monday to Friday
between 10am and 1pm.
Anybody with a visual impairment can use the services offered by
the Woodspring Association and it can put you in touch with any
appropriate agencies you require.
If you are unable to visit the centre a Special Needs Advisor can
visit you at home to give you advice and information on your
day-to-day needs.
They can also provide you with basic equipment.
We can provide information in different formats on request such as
large print, Braille, audiotape or computer disc.
You should contact our
Public
Information Officer if you require information in
other formats.
