Our home care assistants work within strict policy
and practice guidelines.
This means there are official limits to the tasks they can carry
out.
These have been put in place to protect your own and their health
and to ensure a consistent standard of service.
These standards have also been designed to ensure no one is
disadvantaged by differences in race, disability, culture,
religion, gender or sexual orientation.
Our assistants can only carry out tasks stated in your care
programme and may not do anything that could injure you or
themselves.
They are asked to adopt safe working practices when helping you and
have the knowledge, skills and competence to carry out the work
required.
In personal terms, they should always carry an identification card,
be polite and courteous and maintain a good standard of appearance
wearing a uniform and protective clothing where necessary.
They are not allowed to enter your home when you are not there
and should respect your rights and dignity showing respect for your
home and belongings.
They should promote your independence at all times and respond to
changes in your needs reporting any which may requrie a new
assessment.
They are also asked to keep your personal and financial matters
strictly confidential.
In medical terms, they are not allowed to administer medication in
tablet or liquid form, give injections or change dressings applied
to open wounds or sores.
Our assistants cannot accept presents or money however
appreciative you are of their help.
