We help voluntary organisations and charities
provide community transport for people with mobility problems in
North Somerset.
We provide grants to help run and operate community
transport schemes or can put you in touch with private hire firms
which use wheelchair accessible taxis.
Some community transport schemes offer a door-to-door service
booked in advance by telephone, known as dial-a-ride
services.
You are usually eligible to receive these kinds of services if you
are elderly, disabled or find it difficult to use public
transport.
They are not our responsibility and should be booked directly with
the community transport groups who run them.
However, we can advise you of your local scheme and what it has to
offer.
For example, services already operate in Weston-super-Mare and
Nailsea.
For further information contact our Care Connect
service.
Alternatively, the national Motability scheme can
provide disabled people with affordable cars, powered wheelchairs
and scooters.
